The Tai-nan Prosecutors Office has indicted the Chinese captain whose boat allegedly severed the third undersea cable between Taiwan and outlying Peng-hu.
The other 7 crew members, all Chinese, will not be persecuted due to insufficient evidence.
They'll be deported.
The Coast Guard escorted Captain Wang's cargo ship "Hong Tai" back to An-ping Harbor in Tai-nan on February 25th after the third undersea cable was broken at around 3 AM that day.
They took action because Hong Tai had remained in the same sea area where the incident occurred starting from February 22nd, raising suspicions about its involvement.
Also, the cargo ship didn't make any response when An-ping Harbor sent it messages 7 times.
Captain Wang has been detained incommunicado since February 26th on charges of violating the Telecommunications Management Act.
He's facing a prison term of up to 7 years and a maximum fine of 10 million NT.
