Data shows that Taiwan's key export categories such as servers and computer peripherals will be the hardest hit under U.S. President Donald Trump's 32-percent tariff on Taiwanese goods.
According to Taiwan's February export data to the U.S., the top two export categories, computers and computer peripherals, accounted for some 64-percent of total exports.
They had a combined export value of $7.5 billion US dollars, the equivalent of nearly 250 billion NT.
Looking at Taiwan’s top five exports to the U.S. for the entire year of 2024, automatic data processing equipment and its components ranked first, with an export value of $51.5 billion US dollars, an impressive growth of 140-percent year on year.
Analysts said the AI boom has significantly driven demand for servers and semiconductor products. The strongest contributors to Taiwan’s U.S. export growth have been AI servers and semiconductor-related products.
