A Chinese social media influencer who had called for China's "military unification" of Taiwan has left the island.
Liu Zhen-ya was accompanied by her husband and three children before boarding a Xiamen Air flight for the Chinese city of Fuzhou.
Before she left, Liu said she decided it was best to respect Taiwan's legal procedures... saying she didn't "want to leave behind a stain that might affect" her if she ever wished to return" and that she was leaving" with a clear name," and will return with her "head held high."
Liu left Taiwan hours before she faced forced deportation - which was scheduled to take place after midnight on Tuesday.
Liu's husband earlier filed a petition with the Taipei High Administrative Court, seeking to suspend the deportation order... he argued that the decision was based on an assessment of political speech, raising concerns about its legality and his wife posed no threat to national security.
But the court dismissed the appeal ..
... saying Liu's videos had clearly sparked significant controversy and heightened polarization in society... it also said her actions could reasonably be seen as posing a potential threat to social stability and having a serious impact on the public interest.
