President Lai Ching-Te says that Taiwan needs to put in place tougher measures to counter Chinese infiltration.
In a press conference today, Lai cited a range of recent incidents of Chinese "gray zone" tactics, which aim to obtain secrets, lure members of the military, and influence public opinion to degrade confidence in national defense.
He spoke in reference to several recent reports of miliary personnel leaks, as well as influencers posting controversial statements online vis a vis Chinese military threats towards Taiwan.
One such incident involved the expelling of the Chinese wife of a Taiwanese citizen who repeatedly posted on douyin saying China would conquer Taiwan in half an hour and praising Chinese leadership.
The Mainland Affairs Council believes that a very small number of artists are cooperating with the Chinese Communist Party's united front work and damaging national sovereignty.
Other gray zone tactics include sending ships and planes into airspace and waters near Taiwan as a means of intimidating and wearing down armed forces and morale.
