16.6 million pieces of data leaked from hospital data

Officials are saying that millions of pieces of patients' personal data were leaked from Mackay Memorial Hospital and Chuanghua Christian Hospital using the same hacking software.
Their comments are seen as a response to rumors online that hackers sold the 16.6 million pieces of information.
Mackay Memorial and Changhua Christian Hospitals were both hacked by the same attack software, called Crazy Hunter, in February.
In response, the Ministry of Health and Welfare created the "Hospital Ransomware Response Training Guidelines" to provide hospitals with a framework for how to respond.
The hospital also reminds the public to not follow instructions dictated in a fraud call to operate an ATM or provide personal information.
Concerned parties are welcome to call Mackay's information security service hotline at 02 2543 3535 ext 3564.
