The Mainland Affairs Council confirms that a member of a delegation to Hong Kong led by K-M-T legislative caucus whip Fu Kun-chi last month is being detained by authorities in the city.
The person is said to be a travel industry operator from Hualien County.
That delegation included Hualien County Magistrate Hsu Chen-wei-- the group was visiting Hong Kong to attend a travel expo.
The individual was arrested on arriving in Hong Kong.
The council says after it received a report of the arrest, the Office of Hong Kong Affairs in Hong Kong immediately provided necessary assistance to the individual and confirmed the arrest was made on suspicion of involvement in a criminal case.
Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung first mentioned the detention of a Taiwan national who was part of Fu Kun-chi's delegation... during an interview on an internet program this past weekend.
