CEC passed 19 recall petitions against KMT lawmakers and Mayor Anna Gao
Posted on 2025-02-27 15:39:13
The Central Election Commission has passed the 19 recall petitions targeting
KMT lawmakers and Hsin-chu Mayor Anna Gao.

The C-E-C says the other 9 petitions sent after those are pending more
documents.

The CEC has so far received a total of 64 recall proposals with 54 of them
for recalling lawmakers and 9 for city or county council members.

The first 19 ones were submitted by civil groups on February 3rd, and the KMT
lawmakers they target include legislative caucus leader Fu Kun-qi, secretary
Wang Hong-wei, New Taipei's Ye Yuan-zhi (葉元之) and Taichung's Yan Kuan-heng
(顏寬恆).

Hsin-chu Mayor Gao has already been suspended due to allegations of fraud.

According to the CEC rules, those that have passed the first phase of recall
efforts will move to the second phase, which requires the signatures of at
least 10-percent of the total electorate in the original district.

It has to be done within 60 days to be eligible for the final phase, which
will be put to a vote.
