The Ministry of Civil Service has defended its demand that all government workers sign a written statement indicating they do not have China's ID cards, saying it's based on Mainland Affairs Council's rules.
The M-A-C sent out an official letter to inform the Ministry that Taiwanese people who have residence certificates in China or use Chinese IDs or passports will lose the rights of working as civil servants.
Their Taiwan household registrations will be revoked as well.
The M-A-C letter also says that under the Employment of Civil Servants Act, the duty of civil servants is to be loyal to the state, so if military personnel, teachers or government workers have China's resident status, their organizations should investigate.
