Civic groups call on people to fight against recall campaigns

Multiple civic groups have jointly held a press conference today to call for
the end of ongoing massive recall campaign.

The groups, including the Council for Industrial and Commercial Development ,
the Alliance of Public Sector Workers, and the Grassroot Pharmacists
Association, among others, also released a joint statment calling on the
public to protest against the recall.

The recall campaign mainly targets the opposition KMT lawmakers, and local
news media have noted that the DPP is behind the actions.

The civic groups today described the recall as lacking "legitimacy" and
"bullying," saying that it's just a tool used by the ruling party to suppress
dissent.

They also said that the campaign has undermined Taiwan's democracy.
