The United States has finalized a deal to sell Taiwan three National Advanced
Surface-to-Air Missile Systems.

According to the Taiwan's Government e-Procurement System website, the
American Institute in Taiwan and Taiwan's Defense Mission to the U-S have
signed a contract allowing for the procurement of "air defense missile
systems...

The sale has been priced at around 24.98-billion U-S dollars... and the
contract has a term of validity from January 14 of this year through December
31, 2030.

The contract's enforcement agency is listed as the R-O-C Air Force, and the
locations where the contract is to be honored are Taipei's Songshan District
and New Taipei's Tamsui District.

Sources are being cited as saying the announcement referred to Taiwan's order
to purchase three National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems ..

.. and ties it to a separate announcement about "parts and components for air
defense missile systems" posted on the same website last month.
