Hsinchu Factory Fire Kills Two

A fire at a chemical fiber plant in Hsinchu County has left two people dead
and 19 others injured.

The fire broke out early this morning at a factory run by Far Eastern New
Century Corporation.

Firefighters were able to put out the blaze in about 40 minutes.

One worker died at the scene, and another died in the hospital.

Five people are seriously hurt, and 14 others have minor injuries.

The company says a gas leak in an insulation pipe caused the explosion.

While the plant remains operational, this is the fifth fire at the factory
since 2019.

Local residents report frequent foul odors from the plant and expressed
concerns about safety.

Some residents described hearing a loud bang before emergency crews arrived.
