Tourism Administration seeking to attract more tourists

The Tourism Administration says it plans to revise procedures for tourists entering Taiwan from India and five Southeast Asian countries.
According to the administration, the move is aimed at attracting more tourists from the areas by cutting penalties for travel agencies from whom tour members disappear after entering Taiwan.
The revisions are related to the Kuan Hung Pilot Project - which went into affect in November of 2015.
Under the project, people from India, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam were allowed to visit Taiwan as part of group tours organized by designated travel agencies by applying for electronic visas.
The Tourism Administration says along with cutting penalties for travel agencies who lose people, it also plans to streamline entry permit applications.
Data shows that around 74,000 people from the six countries arrived in Taiwan through Kuan Hung Pilot Project from between November of 2022 and April of last year.
