Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence Visiting Taiwan

Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence is currently visiting Taiwan ... to
meet with President Lai Ching-te and Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim...in a show
of U.S. support for Taiwan.

According to The Hill, Pence will meet senior tech leaders today before
traveling to Taipei via high-speed rail for additional engagements, including
a dinner at Taipei Guest House.

Pence recently attended a business leaders' forum in Hong Kong.

A person familiar with the matter said that Pence decided to add a trip to
Taipei in order to "see the situation firsthand" and remind the people of
Taiwan that the United States is Taiwan's ally.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it welcomes his visit.
