AP-US-Cryptocurrency-Scam-Lawsuit

New York's attorney general says scammers stole millions of dollars in
cryptocurrency from people seeking remote work opportunities as part of an
elaborate scheme.

State Attorney General Letitia James said that she’s filed a lawsuit in
order to recover some $2 million stolen from New Yorkers and others around
the country.

James said the scammers used unsolicited text messages to target people
looking for remote work.

They told victims they had to open and deposit funds into cryptocurrency
accounts in order to qualify for the jobs.

The suit cites seven victims residing in New York, Virginia and Florida.
