The government is set to enhance monitoring, after an undersea cable was damaged earlier this year.
The Executive Yuan says the coast guard will increase surveillance of key maritime areas and undersea cable landing sites, after a cable was reportedly damaged on January 3rd, possibly by a Cameroon-flagged cargo ship.
The Coast Guard Administration says the vessel's intent remains unclear, but experts are analyzing the ship's historical data.
An Executive Yuan spokesperson confirms that radar data and other evidence have been sent to prosecutors.
She says any similar incidents in the future will prompt immediate evidence collection and legal investigation.
