The Yilan District Court has sentenced County Magistrate Lin Zi-miao to 12 1/2 years in prison on corruption charges.
The court found the 72-year-old guilty of seeking illegal gains through her supervisory role as a public official, money laundering and having unaccounted-for assets as a public official.
Along with the prison sentence, the court also ordered the seizure of 32.5-million N-T from Lin - a sum of money it said was inconsistent with her income and could not be accounted for.
Lin will now be suspended as Yilan County magistrate, with her deputy, Lin Mao-sheng filling the position on an acting basis.
She was indicted along with 14 other people in 2022 over a scheme to waive 1.12-million N-T in land value increment tax for a plot of land in Luodong Township.
