The Taipei District Court has ruled that Taiwan People's Party Chairman Ko Wen-je can remain free after it rejected an appeal by the Taipei District Prosecutors' Office to revoke his bail.
However, the court chose to increase Ko's bail to 70-million N-T from the original 30-million N-T set last Friday.
The court has also ordered Ko to wear an electronic tag during his release.
The district court ruling came after a mammoth bail hearing that ran from 3PM on Sunday to midnight.
Ko now has until 5PM today to post the 70-million N-T bail or he will be detained.
According to the presiding judge, detention is unnecessary as long as the defendants avoid contact with witnesses and co-defendants.
The district court has also increased bail amounts for Core Pacific Group founder and chairman, Shen Ching-jing (沈慶京), Taipei City Councilor Angela Ying and Ko's former mayoral office head Lee Wen-tsung (李文宗).
