The Hsinchu Prosecutors Office has formed a task force to look into a cryptocurrency analyst Chen Mei-hui's (陳梅慧) death in a car accident.
The move was ordered by the Supreme Prosecutors Office due to a lot of speculations and rumors about the accident.
Chen had been helping authorities investigating the financial flow of child pornography website Chuang-Yi Si-fang (創意私房) and the money laundering organization 88 Club.
It's part of Taichung prosecutors' investigations of organized crimes involving violations of the Money Laundering Control Act.
Chen and her boy friend, a Criminal Investigation Bureau officer who was involved in another case, answered Taichung police's questions Monday night.
Then on their way back home on number 1 freeway, their car was in involved a rear-end collision at 3 a.m. on December 4th, killing Chen on the spot.
Her sudden death has raised suspicions, with some speculating about possible connections to police infighting or conflicts of interest among financial groups.
