Lai to Make Stopovers in Hawaii and Guam on South Pacific Trip

The Presidential Office says President Lai Ching-te will be making stopovers in Hawaii and the U-S territory of Guam during his seven-day trip to the South Pacific.
Lai wil leave Taiwan on a chartered flight later tomorrow afternoon and make his first stop in Hawaii, for a two-night layover before traveling to the Marshall Islands for talks with President Hilda Heine.
His second stop is Tuvalu, where he will meet with Tuvaluan Prime Minister Feleti Teo.
Lai will then transit through Guam and spend a night there before flying to Palau, where he will hold talks Palauan President Surangel Whipps.
The Presidential Office says Lai is scheduled to "make some visits" and "meet with old friends" while in Hawaii and Guam... in addition to attending closed-doors think tank events and dinners with Taiwanese expats.
A Presidential Office officials says arrangements for Lai's layovers will follow past practices and adhere to existing protocols to ensure the president's safety, dignity and comfort.
