The Civil Aeronautics Administration has ordered a Starlux Airline passenger plane that performed a go-around yesterday to be grounded for inspection, and the pilots involved be temporarily suspended.
The Starlux JX871 was scheduled to depart from Naha Airport, Okinawa at 3:35 PM to arrive at Taoyuan International Airport at 4:20 PM.
A YouTube livestream of Taoyuan International Airport showed that the aircraft bounced on the tarmac upon landing and then conducted a go-around.
It finally landed safely at the airport at 6:03 PM.
The CAA says flight JX871 appeared to have experienced a hard landing due to unstable weather from the typhoon, which exceeded the landing limits upon inspection.
The CAA has reiterated the importance of adherence to safety regulations and stated that it will require all domestic airlines to review and improve dispatch operations under adverse weather conditions.
