For the second consecutive day, four Chinese coast guard ships entered restricted waters near Kinmen.
Taiwan's Coast Guard responded with four patrol vessels to intercept and expel the ships in an encounter that lasted about two hours.
The Chinese vessels were detected departing from Xiamen and Quanzhou this morning.
Taiwan's patrol boats issued warnings in Chinese and English, demanding the ships leave.
The Chinese vessels exited by 11 a.m.
Taiwan's Coast Guard says there have been 48 such incursions this year, accusing China of heightening cross-strait tensions and damaging relations.
Taiwan is urging China to prioritize maritime safety, especially during rough weather, and reiterated its commitment to defending national sovereignty while maintaining a non-provocative stance.
