Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung is making his first official visit to Taiwan's diplomatic allies in Latin America and the Caribbean since he took office in May.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Lai Ching-te has appointed Lin as a special envoy to represent his government at celebrations to mark the 45th Independence Day of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The ministry says Lin is expected to meet with Governor-General Susan Dougan and Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves during that trip.
Lin is also scheduled to visit Guatemala, Saint Lucia, Belize, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The foreign minister says Lin will promote a plan aimed at strengthening ties with "solid partners" to help make them become "prosperous partners," leading to enhanced mutual prosperity during his visits to the allied nations.
