The Navy has taken delivery of a rescue and salvage ship.
The "Da Wu" rescue and salvage ship was contracted under the Navy's An Hai Project and took shipbuilder C-S-B-C three years to complete.
It is set to be the first of several "Da Wu" class ships built to replace the Navy's aging fleet of rescue and search vessels.
The Da Wu, as well as its technical data sheets and maintenance manuals, were handed over to the Navy at a delivery ceremony.
The Navy says it will now begin training in preparation for the ship to be officially commissioned.
The first ship in the class is equipped with a diving bell that can reach depths of up to 100-meters...
it also has a remote operated underwater vehicle with a dive limit of 500-meters - both of which are expected to strengthen rescue and salvage capacity.
In addition to rescuing and salvaging Navy ships, the "Da Wu" is also expected to double as a floating dock or offshore platform during humanitarian rescue missions.
