Taoyuan's Animal Protection Office is working with National Yunlin University of Science and Technology to improve stray dog capture efforts by using drones and AI technology.
The drones, equipped with thermal and visible light cameras, help locate and track strays more accurately across the city.
Officials say capturing stray dogs can be difficult as they tend to move unpredictably, often disappearing into dense vegetation, which delays capture efforts.
The drones' ability to hover and follow movement helps overcome these challenges, increasing the precision of capture operations.
This initiative, funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, aims to streamline efforts to control the stray dog population by mapping key areas and improving tracking efficiency.
