Taiwan President Lai Ching-te emphasized Taiwan's sovereignty in his National Day speech, asserting, in his words, that China "has no right to represent Taiwan."
Lai vowed to resist any threats to Taiwan’s autonomy and highlighted the country's commitment to democracy and freedom.
He called for unity among Taiwan's 23 million citizens, stressing the importance of national resilience and collaboration with the international community.
Lai also mentioned Taiwan's willingness to cooperate with China on global challenges, such as climate change and regional stability, while maintaining a strong stance on sovereignty.
He pointed to Taiwan's economic contributions, especially in technology, and underscored efforts to support citizens’ livelihoods, including increased social investments and support for the young and elderly.
