National Day Speech

Taiwan President Lai Ching-te emphasized Taiwan's sovereignty in his National
Day speech, asserting, in his words, that China "has no right to represent
Taiwan."

Lai vowed to resist any threats to Taiwan’s autonomy and highlighted the
country's commitment to democracy and freedom.

He called for unity among Taiwan's 23 million citizens, stressing the
importance of national resilience and collaboration with the international
community.

Lai also mentioned Taiwan's willingness to cooperate with China on global
challenges, such as climate change and regional stability, while maintaining
a strong stance on sovereignty.

He pointed to Taiwan's economic contributions, especially in technology, and
underscored efforts to support citizens’ livelihoods, including increased
social investments and support for the young and elderly.
