A survey shows that people in Taiwan lost about 239 and a half-billion N-T to different types of scams over the past 12 months.
The survey was jointly conducted by the Global Anti-Scam Alliance, Gogolook, and ScamAdviser.
Similar surveys were also conducted in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The results of the Taiwan survey shows total loses to scams here ranked fourth behind South Korea, Singapore, and Japan among the 13 participating countries and territories.
The total losses in Taiwan were estimated proportionally through a survey of just over 5 thousand Taiwanese citizens, who averaged a loss of the equivalent of 1,940 U-S dollars each.
The survey found that only 17-per cent of Taiwanese respondents said they were "not confident at all" in their ability to recognize scams.
While the share of those who felt "confident" or "very confident" in their ability to recognize scams fell to 55-per cent - down 5 percentage points from a similar survey last year.
