A survey shows that almost 30 percent of Taiwanese scam targets fell for scams within an hour after encountering them...
It also indicates that over 50 percent of (Taiwanese) respondents reported encountering scams weekly.
Among various schemes, Identity theft took the biggest share of frauds in Taiwan, accounting for 24 percent, which aligns with the trend seen in Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, and Mainland China.
This is followed by shopping , investment , and business impersonation scams, which are also prevalent across Asia.
Facebook is the most common platform for scams in Taiwan, with 63% of users encountering fake investment ads.
LINE is also a major target, with 47 percent of users encountering phishing links.
The survey also found that nearly 40 percent of Taiwanese respondents believe believe they've received AI-generated scam messages.
The Global Anti-Scam Alliance together with other anti-fraud companies surveyed almost 25 thousand individuals across Asia, identifying the most common types of threats and scams per country.
