The Executive Yuan has condemned China for test-firing an intercontinental ballistic missile into the Pacific Ocean, calling it a threat to regional peace.
China’s military launched the missile yesterday, hitting a target in international waters.
Taiwan’s government urged China to stop actions that destabilize the region and return to international norms.
Executive Yuan spokesperson Michelle Li said Taiwan, as a responsible member of the global community, remains committed to maintaining stability.
She emphasized that Taiwan will continue working closely with the U.S. and other allies to safeguard peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.
Meanwhile, Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer "JS Sazanami" recently passed through the Taiwan Strait for the first time, though the Executive Yuan had no comment on that development.
