MOFA Thanks QUAD Leaders Taiwan Strait Stability Call
Posted on 2024-09-23 06:59:13
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is thanking QUAD members for reaffirming the
belief in the need for peace and stability in Taiwan Strait.

MOFA says that as a responsible member of the Indo-Pacific, Taiwan will
continue to collaborate with like-minded partners to safeguard peace,
stability, and prosperity in the Taiwan Strait and the broader region.

The statement was issued after talks between U-S President Joe Biden hosted
Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, Australian Prime Minister Anthony
Albanese and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Quad Leaders Summit
in Wilmington, Delaware.

The leaders voiced their opposition to any attempt to change the "status quo"
in the Taiwan Strait.

Biden and Fumio further reiterated their opposition to any attempt to change
the "status quo" by force and reiterated their resolve to maintain peace and
stability across the Taiwan Strait.
