Chinese Speedboat Man Sentenced to 8 Months in Prison

The Shilin District Court has sentenced a Chinese man who illegally entered
Taiwan by speedboat to eight months in prison.

The man entered Taiwan without permission early June, driving a speedboat
near the mouth of the Tamsui River, before being apprehended by the Coast
Guard.

The man claimed he was under travel restrictions in China for political
reasons.

The Shilin District Prosecutor's Office indicted him on August 14th for
unlawful entry under the Immigration Act.

The ruling can be appealed.
