The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has thanked the U-S government for "upholding
Taiwan's safety in accordance to the Taiwan Relations Act and the Six
Assurances"....

The statement came after the U-S State Department announced approval of the
sale of military goods and services worth around 228-million dollars to
Taiwan.

U-S Department of Defense says Taiwan requested the sale of the items ...

.... which include both classified and unclassified spare parts for aircraft
and related equipment; and U-S Government and contractor engineering,
technical, and logistics support services.

The U-S Congress has already been notified of and is expected to approve the
sale.

The Ministry of National Defense here in Taiwan says the aviation-related
goods and services "will help maintain the combat readiness and safety of
various types of aircraft equipment of Taiwan's Air Force."
