Several thousand supporters of the Taiwan People's Party are in Taipei to
protest the detention of its party chairman and founder, Ko Wen-je.

They began gathering outside the Legislative Yuan on Friday evening, after
the party called for people to gather for a silent protest.

Buses on Sunday began bringing hundreds more people to Taipei to participate.

Huang Kuo-cheng says the rally is aimed at highlighting a decline in public
trust of the judicial system... since its reputation was tarnished by the
Taipei District Court's decision to detain Ko late last week.

T-P-P lawmakers and members are taking part in the protest - and several
party heavyweights have addressed the crowd.

Many are accusing the Lai administration and the D-P-P of deliberately
targeting Ko...

They're also accusing prosecutors of violating the principle of
non-disclosure by leaking elements of the case to certain media outlets.
