Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an in First US Trip Since Taking Office

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an is embarking on for his first visit to the United States since taking office in December of 2022.
Speaking to reporters at Taoyuan International Airport prior to boarding his flight, Chiang said his 10-day trip is aimed at promoting Taipei and exchanging city governance experiences.
According to Chiang, he's traveling with Taipei City Council Speaker Dai Xi-qin and several city councilors to learn about urban planning, transportation infrastructure and developments in the emerging technology sector.
The city government says the mayor and city councilors will begin their tour in New York - where they will visit the New York Mets baseball team's home stadium Citi Field to see how the sports facility is managed and operated.
The delegation will next travel to Boston, where it will meet local city officials at the Massachusetts State House and Chiang will deliver a speech at John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at Harvard University.
The mayor and city councilors will visit the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before traveling to Philadelphia, where they will visit Pennsylvania State University and meet with Taiwanese students studying in the state.
Chiang's U-S trip will conclude on September 12 and the delegation will fly back to Taiwan from New York.
