US Sullivan Stands By Taiwan Arms Sales In Beijing Press Conference

Speaking in Beijing, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan reaffirmed
that the U.S. will continue its arms sales to Taiwan.

He was there to meet with China’s leader Xi Jinping...

...ahead of talks planned between Xi and US President Joe Biden in coming
weeks.

Sullivan held a press conference in the Chinese capital yesterday...

...where he explained U.S. arms sales to Taiwan are in accordance with the
U.S. "One China" policy.

He said this policy has helped maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan
Strait for decades, and the U.S. will continue this approach.

It was one of many issues Sullivan touched on during his visit...

...which was largely focused on improving dialogue between the militaries of
the two world superpowers.
