Kaohsiung MRT Ridership Grows 16% Compared to Previous Year

Ridership on the Kaohsiung MRT so far is up 16 percent this year compared to
last.

The company's data shows that from January 1st this year until yesterday,
average daily ridership stands at 174 thousand.

That's 16 percent higher than last year's 150 thousand over the same period.

It's also comparable to the year 2019, which holds the record for the highest
daily ridership at 179 thousand.

MRT officials have attributed the increase to the popularity of T-PASS montly
pass, which brought back those who had stopped using public transportation
during the Covid-19 pandemic;

... and the completion of the light rail loop and the opening of the Gangshan
Station;
