The Ministry of National Defense says it closely monitored the Taiwan Strait transit of a U-S military vessel and observed no unusual activity.
The vessel is said to have sailed north through the Taiwan Strait.
This came after the U-S 7th Fleet announced that the guided-missile destroyer U-S-S Ralph Johnson had conducted a routine Taiwan Strait transit... those waters are covered by high-seas freedom of navigation and overflight under international law.
A statement issued by the 7th Fleet said the vessel's transit "demonstrates the United States' commitment to upholding freedom of navigation for all nations as a principle."
It added that "no member of the international community should be intimidated or coerced into giving up their rights and freedoms."
The last transit was undertaken by the guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey when it transited through Taiwan Strait on May 8.
