Australian Senate Passes Motion Supporting Taiwan's Sovereignty

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is welcoming the passage of a "urgency motion" in support of Taiwan's sovereignty and participation in international organizations by the Australian Senate.
The motion was co-sponsored by Senators David Fawcett of South Australia and Deborah O'Neill of New South Wales.
Fawcett, of the main opposition Liberal Party, went before Australian Parliament to explain his motion.
O'Neill took to the stand to criticise Beijing's interpretation of United Nations Resolution 2758, which only touches on China's admission into the international body.
In the same way, lawmaker Fawcett added the measure does not address Taiwan's representation within the international body.
Both Australian lawmakers were here last month to attend the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China's annual conference.
