Transport Minister Li Meng-yen is resigning after it was revealed he is involved in a long-term extra-marital affair.
Li offered his resignation to President Lai Ching-te and Premier Cho Jung-tai after he was outed in a post made on the P-T-T online forum... which claimed he had been involved with a woman living in New Taipei for as long as 10 years.
Cabinet spokesperson Chen Shih-kai says the Premier has accepted the resignation.
Li has also apologized - saying his "past personal behavior" had "impacted public confidence" in the transport ministry.
He had been inspecting the Kenting Weather Radar Station in Pingtung and was en route to Zuoying High-Speed Rail Station in Kaohsiung when news about the extra-marital affair was revealed online.
Li assumed the post of transport minister on May 20.
