Posted on 2024-07-11 08:16:14
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that three diplomats are under
investigation following reports accusing them of separate acts of misconduct
while in office.

The statement comes after the Mirror Magazine accused the representative to
Fiji Paul Chen, the representative to the World Trade Organization Luo
Chang-fa and Wei Yue-han, a section chief at Taiwan's representative in the
U-S, of wrongdoing.

The charges include misusing public funds and inappropriately ordering
subordinates to complete personal tasks.

According to Mirror Magazine, the representative to Fiji spent 600,000 N-T
from a diplomatic budget on 88 items, including Apple products, Hello Kitty
dolls, Starbucks gift items, and bathroom scales for personal use during his
posting in Guam.

The representative to the World Trade Organization allegedly ordered an
employee to use his government vehicle to transport garbage from his personal
residence to the office during work hours so the diplomat could save on
personal cleaning expenses.

While the section chief at Taiwan's representative in the U-S unfairly
assigning work to subordinates.

The foreign minstry says it has now launched separate investigations into all
three diplomats.
