The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it's requested Australian Police to respond to a report involving 4 Taiwanese tourists being assaulted by locals.
Ai-ting, a Taiwanese influencer, said four local teenagers in Brisbane racially insulted her and her 3 friends, before attacking them physically.
She said she suffered blows to her head, while her 3 friends each suffered minor injuries.
Ai-ting complained that local police didn't do much except recording what they said.
MOFA said today that its office in Brisbane contacted those Taiwanese tourists to offer comfort and explained that it can provide necessary help should they decide to press charges later on.
MOFA also promised to provide local lawyer information and necessary assistance, as well as maintain close contact with Australian law enforcement personnel.
The office also posted related information on its Facebook page, saying tourists can immediately call the office's emergency hotline for help in such situations.
It's also urging Taiwanese citizens in Australia to stay vigilant about their safety.
