The Presidential Office has expressed regret over China's military exercises around Taiwan.
The office issued a statement, saying the People's Liberation Army's "Joint Sword-2024A" drill is a unilateral military provocation...
...which threatens Taiwan's democracy, freedom, and regional peace and stability.
The national security team and military units have full awareness of the situation and remain confident in their ability to defend the nation.
The Presidential Office assured that they will continue to protect Taiwan’s democracy and national security, urging citizens to stay calm.
Presidential Office spokesperson Guo Ya-hui (郭雅慧) this morning stated that maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific region is a widely supported international consensus.
She reiterated that the Presidential Office’s consistent stance is that maintaining regional peace and stability is a shared responsibility and goal of both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
