Taiwan's First Solar Radio Observatory Captures Solar Storm Signals

Taiwan's first Solar Radio Wave Observatory, established by National Central University at the Zhongli VHF Radar station, has successfully captured solar radio bursts from recent solar storms.
From May 8th to 9th, an active sunspot region triggered solar flares and coronal mass ejections, leading to intense geomagnetic storms on May 10th and 11th.
The observatory detected various solar radio signals, providing early warnings for severe space weather.
Professor Yang Ya-hui stated that this observatory is Taiwan's only platform for solar radio burst observations.
Recent enhancements have improved its capability, proving effective in capturing these signals.
The observatory aims to record radio bursts across more frequency bands in the future, enhancing understanding of solar activity's impact on radio communications.
Established in 2022, the observatory continues to refine its equipment and processes for better performance.
