Executives of Restaurants Accused of Using Expired Meat Released on Bail
Posted on 2024-04-26 08:15:13
The Taichung District Prosecutors' Office has released five executives at two
Japanese-style barbecue restaurants on bail ranging from 50,000 to 800,000
N-T as part of an investigation into the use of expired meat.

According to the prosecutors' office, all five were questioned one suspicion
that the restaurants knowingly used expired meat and other food and
ingredients.

The five were among eight individuals, including the restaurateurs and
employees, who were questioned earlier this week on allegations that the
"Wagyu Emperor" and the "Mikado Yakiniku" restaurants had been selling
expired Wagyu beef.

Prosecutors and police raided both restaurants on Wednesday - seizing
documents and other items.

Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen says the "Mikado Yakiniku" restaurant has now
been ordered to suspend operations and fined 1.92-million N-T after expired
food items were found in its kitchen.

The "Wagyu Emperor" restaurant was ordered to suspend operations and fined
1.44-million N-T for using expired food items earlier this month.
