MOHW Pushes for More Home Visits for Fullday Child Caretakers

The Ministry of Health and Welfare is pushing to increase required home visits for full-day child caretakers.
Officials say they are speeding up revisions of visitation guidelines, with an initial consensus to increase vistation frequency for daycare providers working out of their home from the current four times, to six times a year.
This comes after the death of the high-profile case of a 1-year-old boy who was allegedly abused and killed by his home-based daycare providers in Taipei , and the ministry says local governments and relevant non-government organizations have been meeting to tackle the issue this month.
The ministry says they are also considering different visitation standards for younger children, or those who may be challenging to care for.
The MOHW says another meeting will be held next week, with the goal of implementing the new guidelines by the end of April.
