Taiwan to Shut Down 3G Networks, Transition to 4G VoLTE

Taiwan's three major telecom operators are set to decommission 3G voice
networks by the end of June, transitioning fully to enhanced 4G VoLTE
services.

The National Communications Commission encourages the public to verify their
mobile phones' compatibility with VoLTE.

Devices that are not up-to-date may not support crucial functions, including
emergency calls, necessitating an upgrade.

Current 4G and 5G smartphones generally support VoLTE, ensuring clearer call
quality and efficient internet use.

With the phase-out aligned with global trends towards more efficient and
sustainable telecom practices, the NCC also offers replacement schemes to
facilitate the upgrade to VoLTE-capable phones, enhancing overall
communication experience and compliance with modern standards.
