Da-Lin Tzu Chi Hospital Screens Hundreds for Lung Cancer

Da Lin Tzu Chi Hospital (大林慈濟醫院) in Chia-yi has completed 562
screenings for people with a high risk of lung cancer, with 12 individuals
being diagnosed.

The hospital says that since 2022, the Health Promotion Administration has
been providing free Low-Dose Computed Tomography screening for groups deemed
high-risk for lung cancer.

They include men aged 50 to 74 or women aged 45 to 74 with a family history
of lung cancer, as well as heavy smokers aged 50 to 74.

They're eligible for the L-D-C-T screening once every two years.

Health officials say lung cancer has consistently been one of the top ten
causes of cancer deaths among Taiwanese people.

They are hoping that the free service will encourage more high-risk people to
undergo screening.
