K-M-T legislative caucus caucus whip Fu Kun-chi has announced plans to lead a delegation of party lawmakers yo China prior to the May 20 inauguration of President-elect Lai Ching-te.
According to Fu, the trip is aimed at advance cross-strait dialogue and peace and step up efforts to promote the easing of tensions between the two sides.
Fu says the delegation will be seeking to promote Taiwan to Chinese tourists and the exporting of Taiwanese agricultural and fishery products to China.
Speaking to reporters, Fu described the trip being "crucial," as foreign media has highlighted the tense situation between Taiwan and China, regularly labeling the Taiwan Strait as "a dangerous hotspot where confrontation could break out."
Reports say the delegation will comprise of 20 K-M-T lawmakers and other senior officials from the party.
Those officials includ Chairman Eric Chu, former Deputy Chairman Hau Lung-bin and former Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng.
