The National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology today conducted the first successful live-fire test of the new Land Sword II air defense missile system at Jiupeng Military Base in Pingtung County.
Initially scheduled for April 9th, the test was delayed due to bad weather.
During the test, three Land Sword II missiles were launched, successfully striking all designated drone targets provided by N-C-S-I-S-T.
This system, developed to replace the older Chaparral air-defense system, boasts an effective range of 15-kilometers and can engage various aerial threats including fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, and cruise missiles.
The system integrates several components for enhanced defense capabilities and can be used in conjunction with the Stinger and Avenger systems to create a layered air defense network.
