The Taiwan Space Agency has announced progress on the Formosat-8 project, a high-resolution optical remote sensing satellite currently in integration testing, with a launch anticipated by the end of 2025.
Aimed at enhancing Taiwan's capabilities in space, the project seeks to achieve over 80-percent self-manufacture rate, with specific metrics to be determined after testing.
This initiative was highlighted during a legislative session focused on national science and technology development.
In response to recent seismic activities, TASA also demonstrated the practical applications of satellite technology in disaster assessment and relief efforts.
Amidst geopolitical considerations, Taiwan is advancing its space technology and international collaborations, maintaining a strategic presence in the global space science and industry sectors, with a keen eye on China's absence from key international space symposiums.
