The Taiwan Railway Corporation says emergency track repairs are underway after a Puyuma Express train derailed late last night near Xiulin Township in Hualien.
According to the corporation, the train was traveling from Taitung to New Taipei when its engine was hit by a falling rock near Heping Station.
None of the crew members or 146 passengers were injured.
They safely boarded a relief train at the station, which then continued onto its terminus at Shulin Train Station.
The railway corporation says the incident resulted in both the north and south bound tracks lines being blocked,
